Miss Loretta & Fargo Junk Market

Loretta Desk

Hi, it’s Maria — We love sharing what we find and how with a little elbow grease and paint an old forgotten piece can be transformed into a lovely new addition to your home.

Like this delightful writing desk.  I’m calling her Loretta because that is the name of her former owner.  I’m told by her son that Loretta Wilson loved to write letters and did so most evenings sitting at this very desk.  I’m guessing that Loretta (the desk) is about 60 years old given the age of the woman’s son.

Loretta the desk found a new home immediately upon renovation and the new owners just oohed and aahed over her…just like she deserved.  Isn’t she lovely?

Loretta has found a new home but there will be many pieces just like her waiting for you at Junk Market this weekend.  We hope you join us and find a special piece to take with you.

Carrington, N.D. has Junk Fest, Minneapolis, Minn. has Junk Bonanza, so it only made sense that Fargo has Junk Market! Right?  We are feverishly working to put the finishing touches on the event.  This whole junking craze hit us last summer when we decided to start featuring re-purposed furniture in our store.

Thanks to the support of a couple great friends and my husband we have become addicted. And by addicted I mean jumping in dumpsters and traveling to the ends of the state for a good auction – addicted (some say crazy).

We sure aren’t getting rich doing this but what we are getting is a lot of joy from meeting others (like the Midwest Junk girls and guy) who appreciate what we are up to and support us along the way.
