I’ve mentioned to you before just how much I love rocking chairs. We’ll I’ve been at it again. At an estate sale a few months ago, my friend Crystal spotted this beauty of a rocker and passed it along to my husband and I. (Thanks Crystal!) Check out the before picture below – a white rocker with gold accents:

The rocker also came with a cushion. Here’s a look at the fabric:

I wanted to be a little bit extreme in this transformation because I felt that the chair was calling for it.

So the chair got a few coats of spray paint, Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Ultra Cover in satin and the color is aubergine. Purple tones don’t cover evenly unless you use the correct primer.

TIP: Use gray primer before you paint a piece of furniture purple. It works like a charm.

Check out my “paint booth” – cardboard scraps from the local hardware store and an old drapery panel. Works like a charm.

This morning I recovered the cushion using fabric from Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts and then I bought some vinyl flowers from Hobby Lobby to dress up the back a little bit.

I think it’s just a bit of fun.
