I love fun lamps.  Recently I found some lamps that had potential, but needed a little lovin’.

A couple weeks ago I happened to be on a trip to a local dump with my husband, and I  saw this beauty peeking out of the trash.  I loved the green base and the pretty shape.  My husband climbed over some garbage to rescue this piece for me.

I took it home and when I started to clean it up, the green color on the base literally wiped right off.  So, that was a little disappointing, but the glass looked nice clear as well.  I rewired the lamp (old wiring scares me) and painted it a pretty coral color.  Then I topped it off with a pretty drum shade and then patted myself on the back for a job well done. ;)  I think it turned out great!

Later, Sarah and I found this set of lamps while on a trip to the lake.  They were pretty beat up and dirty.  But we knew they could look beautiful with a coat of paint.  So, again I took these home, cleaned them up and sanded off the chipping paint and gave them a fresh coat of a lovely periwinkle spray paint.  After the paint dried, I rewired them and added drum shades.  Don’t they look gorgeous?

A little time invested in these discarded lamps gave them a new look and new life.  I wish all of the lamps could live at my house!

Nice job! Love the color choice! How did you get rid of the green from the glass or did you switch it out? I have a hanging light, (chandelier ish) that I want to re-paint! One of these days, i’ll get there!

The green was a think plastic-y film on the glass base. All I did was wipe it off with soap and warm water!
When you get your chandelier done, be sure to share photos! We’d love to see it. :)

The lamps are tres chic! What’s your source for lampshades? They’re just the right proportions for the lamps. I’m having trouble finding just the “right” shade for some I have.
