canvas

A blank canvas holds many opportunities… so which one should I uncover was the question I asked myself multiple times before testing the waters with this project. I absolutely love the way it turned out and look forward to experimenting more in the future with color, pattern and my technique for creating this one of a kind art masterpiece.

By painting blue, white and black acrylic paint abstractly across the canvas I created a modern work of its own. With the help of some painters tape pieces which I measured to be 5 inches each, I laid out my pattern by squaring one piece up to the edge of the canvas at a 90 degree angle.

After the canvas was covered with the pattern, I peeled off a couple of pieces of the pattern to break up and add some randomness to the piece.  A few thin layers of white spray paint were applied to the entire canvas, tape and all, before the revealing the end product!

Creating a one of a kind piece of artwork can be both stress relieving and rewarding, so grab a canvas, scrap of wood, or jar and start experimenting on your own!
