When the calendar rolls to October 1, my gigantic totes full of Halloween accessories get dragged up from the basement storage room and they make a temporary home all over our house. This year I stumbled upon two super cute projects that I wanted to share with you.
One of the Midwest Junkers, Hayley, found this piece from the middle of an angel food cake pan. It’s smaller than many of these things that I have seen. She had the vision of creating a witch hat for Halloween decorating and that’s how this little guy ended up in the paint shop.
It got a coat of black paint and a Halloween inspired ribbon tied around the base. Hayley wanted to add some extra color and creepiness, so she put a purple spider on it. I love how it turned out. Super simple, right?
This next idea came to us courtesy of Pinterest. Here’s a look at the inspiration photo, which we found on a Pinterest board:
And here’s a look at the project we put together: This sewing machine table was empty. It started out as a dark brown color with brass colored hardware.
We gave the hardware a coat of black spray paint, and we painted the table with this festive burnt orange.
Then we had to accessorize, of course. We added striped witch stockings, which we used a staple gun to secure on the top. Then we added a worn out pair of boots, a cast iron bucket and a Halloween inspired photo.
I love it.
And it reminds me – has anyone seen my broom?

LOVE IT!!

What a neat idea!
