A Chevron Christmas!

Time to start thinking Christmas folks!  And what could be better than Christmas time?  Christmas with chevron of course!  We just had to share our chevron stocking with you.  We made it for The Studio’s Christmas sale which of course starts Thursday at 5, but we thought you all might like a peak at the pattern right away so you can make plans to stock up on chevron fabric!  This is a super easy pattern, great for any beginner on the sewing machine!

First, download the pdf and print it.  It will be 3 pages that need to be taped together.  The dotted lines show how the pages overlap.  Cut out the pattern, then use it to cut out the fabric.  We love it out of chevron, but of course this would work great with just about any fabric!  Add 1/2″ all the way around the pattern for a seam allowance.  Put right sides together, pin in place and sew around the stocking.  Clip around the curves and turn it right side out.  Iron it well.

Next, cut a piece of fabric 3″ x 6-1/2″.  This will be the loop to hang the stocking from.  Fold the fabric in half the long way with the right sides together, creating a piece that is 1-1/2″ x 6-1/2″.  Sew the long edge to create a tube.  Turn it right side out and press.

Turn the top edge over 1/2″ and press it in place.  Fold the loop in half and pin it in place (see picture for placement.)  Top stitch around the opening, backstitching over the loop to make sure its secure.  And that’s it!  These would make amazing gifts, or better yet keep them for yourself to liven up your old Christmas decor.  Another great part – you can make two stockings out of only a 1/2 yard of home decor weight chevron fabric!

Hope to see you out at The November Sale at The Studio!  We have a ton of new fabrics to choose from, now available in full yard, half yard and fat quarter lengths.
